Sitara Urli
Sitara means star, and once you look down into this urli, you see why. The rim breaks into points, and every flute inside runs inward to meet at a single spot in the centre, the way a star gathers its own light. It is a shape Jaipur has never stopped drawing: cut into jali screens, inlaid into haveli floors, painted on the ceilings of rooms where people slept.
We brought that geometry into marble. Each urli is hand-carved from a single block in Rajasthan, and because the fluting is cut by hand, every ridge catches the light at a slightly different angle as you move around it. A matte finish keeps the stone soft rather than shiny, so the light does the work. Two sizes are available and nest one inside the other.
Styling tips:
Fill it with water and float a single rose head or a handful of marigolds — the petals settle right where the flutes converge. Set a tealight at the centre and the carved rays carry the light outward. Use the larger one as a table centrepiece and the smaller for fruit, or for keys and small things by the door. Set both out together and the star simply repeats itself.
