About Kirti
I grew up in the foothills of the Himalayas, always outdoors, always drawn to the shapes of leaves and collecting wildflowers. That organic form never left me, it simply found its way into everything I make.
Jaipur was where my heart learned colour. Childhood visits to my grandparents became a recurring love affair with the city's craft, its street-corner beauty, the quiet pride of things made by hand.
After Pearl Academy in Delhi and Arsutoria in Milan where I learned the precision behind beautiful form, it was my work with the United Nations that changed everything. Working across international markets meant working directly with artisans. I was drawn to the traditional, unhurried ways of making things by hand. That's where my belief in slow design was born. Not as a trend, but as a way of respecting the people and process behind every object. That philosophy is the foundation of everything Barefoot at Home makes today.
Where it began
It started in the lanes of Jaipur, a city where craft is not a hobby but a heritage. Walking through workshops where artisans shape brass with the same tools their grandfathers used, where marble is carved by hand into forms that have graced Indian homes for centuries, we felt something shift. These weren’t just objects. They were living records of a culture that understood beauty as a daily practice.
We wanted to bring that into homes everywhere. Not as curiosities or souvenirs, but as pieces that belong, that earn their place on a shelf, a table, a windowsill.
The Name
Barefoot at home is a feeling as much as a brand. It’s the ease of a Sunday morning. The warmth of a room that has been gathered slowly, with intention. The quiet confidence of a home that doesn’t try too hard, because every piece in it was chosen with care.
We named it for the way we want people to feel when they walk through their front door. Unhurried. Grounded. At home.
The Makers
Every piece in our collection is made by hand by artisans in Rajasthan whose skills have been passed down through generations. We build relationships that go beyond transactions.
