Shankh Urli

The shankh has always marked a beginning. It's blown to open the aarti, kept in the puja room, and held to the ear by every child who has ever found one. Sacred to Lakshmi, held by Vishnu, and, before all that, a shell born in the sea.

Inspired by it, We carried that form into marble. A ridged spiral wraps the length of the piece and opens into a shallow, generous basin. It's carved by hand, so the ribs catch the light unevenly, just as they do on the real shell. A matte finish keeps the marble soft rather than shiny, so the ribs do all the talking.

Styling tips:
Fill it with water and float marigold heads or a single rose. Set it on a console with two tea lights nested inside the curve. Line it with lemons on a kitchen counter, or let it sit empty on a low table, where the shape alone is enough. It's a substantial piece — long, low, and heavy enough to feel permanent wherever you set it.
